Covering a vast area, the municipality of Vilhelmina, one of the biggest in the country is at the heart of southern Lapland.
Vilhelmina is one of Sweden’s biggest municipalities, encompassing magnificent mountains and large lakes. Also the home of Sami legends such as Stalo the Cruel or Njavvisene, the Sun’s daughter who spreads warmth in human hearts, it is of key importance to southern Lapland.
When the pioneers settled in the region they brought with them their myths and legends about the Vittra (spirits of nature such as elves or trolls) who dance across the marshes or play music for the fish in the streams. In these border lands between Norway and Sweden, between coast and mountain, anything can happen. We bid you a warm welcome to Vilhelmina.
