Set amid a dramatic landscape, one of Norway’s smallest municipalities, the coastal community of Vevelstad, has been in existence since the Stone Age. At least half of the area forms part of the Lomsdal-Visten National Park and is bursting with typical Helgeland scenery: lakes, fjords, free-flowing rivers, forest and dramatic mountains. Human activity has made barely any impact, so every visitor should carry a map and compass when coming here.
There’s much to see, not least a wide variety of ancient remains left by the settlers of long ago.
Auslia is a restored mountain farmstead situated in the heart of a hiking area filled with marked trails. A trip to The Visten fjord gives the opportunity to drink in the magnificent surrounding scenery as well as enjoy some excellent hunting, fishing and hiking. For those seeking modern convenience and facilities, the main town of Brønnøysund is just a 45 minute car journey away.
