Mosjøen is situated in Vefsn Municipality at the head of a fjord and holds the titles of oldest town in Helgeland and second oldest town in Nordland. A haven for music and the arts, Mosjøen holds many concerts and events every year major festivals on a theme include the Galleria Arts Festival, the Kippermocupen football tournament and the Tiendebytte historical tithe market.
Thanks to a rich heritage, however, Mosjøen has much more to offer visitors. The early 19th century houses, which still play an important and colourful role in this vibrant small town, are fascinating and well worth a look and there’s plenty of modern attractions too. Pay a visit to the new swimming pool at Kippermon, take a walk to Marsøra, view Sjøgata street from the fjord or take a hike up to the easily attainable Moåsen Ridge. If you want to try a longer route, aim for the top of Øyfjellet. Horseback riding is available from the Ekipasjen Stables and you can try your luck bowling at the Mosjøen camp site.
